Need a little more speed on your adventure, or want to cover more ground? Mountain biking is an exciting way to experience wild places, whether as the focus of your trip or as one component of a broader adventure. While many national parks and designated wilderness areas are off-limits to bikes, millions of acres of National Forests, BLM land, and private trail systems are open and waiting for your tires.
Most of the riding we feature happens in what's considered “frontcountry” - accessible, developed trail systems with amenities nearby. But maybe that’s not what you’re after. Maybe you’re curious what the Tetons look like from a remote ridgeline only accessible by bike, or how it feels to pedal into the desert and camp under a sky full of stars. We get it. We like that too.
Backcountry bikepacking or multi-day mountain biking trips come with their own planning challenges, which makes it hard to offer a tidy list of pre-packaged itineraries. Riders will have different comfort levels with mileage, terrain, and remoteness. Some may want to mix in a few big rides with days spent hiking, paddling, or just relaxing by the fire. Others may want a full-throttle point-to-point epic, or just a relaxing hour or two ride from town. We’ve done all of ‘em.
If any of these sound like your kind of trip, get in touch. We can help you dial in the right route, build a planning timeline, navigate access or permits, and recommend pre- and post-ride stops to round out your adventure. We can talk you through getting your bike there, or connect you with rental bikes and guides as needed.
This service is available for solo riders, families, and larger groups. We have the experience to make sure your two wheeled adventure is all smiles.
With over 250 miles of purpose-built singletrack and easy access right from town, Bentonville offers mountain biking for every level of rider. From scenic greenways to flow trails and progressive jump lines, you can spend a weekend here or build out a full week hopping between zones like Slaughter Pen, Coler, and Little Sugar.
Pisgah is a backcountry rider’s dream, with hundreds of miles of rugged trail winding through dense forest, steep ridgelines, and creek-filled valleys. There are beginner-friendly options near Dupont and Bent Creek, but more experienced riders will find multi-hour loops and challenging terrain that can fill out a long weekend or anchor a week of riding.
Park City is home to more than 400 miles of interconnected trail, from smooth, family-friendly routes to high-alpine epics. With lift access in the summer and a Gold-Level IMBA Ride Center designation, it’s a rare mix of convenience and adventure - perfect for short getaways or building a full itinerary across valleys and peaks.

These are just examples, but the list of bikeable areas is endless. If you have a dream location in mind we'll work with you to find the best options. If you just want to get away from it all for a few days we can start from there.
Many mountain biking trails are only accessible during the warmer, drier months of the year. Conditions vary by region - snowpack, spring runoff, wildlife closures, and fire closures all impact trail availability. Desert rides may be perfect in winter, while alpine routes shine in summer and early fall. Some places are even great in the rain. We can start with your preferred season and match it with the right destination, or begin with a dream trail system and determine the ideal riding window.
Most trail systems don’t require any kind of advance reservations or permits, but there is a strategy to parking and picking which trails to ride when, especially in popular destinations like Park City, Moab, or Bentonville. For multi-day or bikepacking routes on federal lands, permits may be needed for campsites or dispersed camping. These often open on a set date and fill quickly. We’ll help you navigate the details and secure what’s needed for your itinerary.
We’ll book you lodging as needed for your entire adventure - whether that’s a convenient hotel close to the trailhead, a cabin rental with secure bike storage, or a bike-friendly boutique hotel downtown. Our default is comfortable 3-star hotels, but we’ll tailor to your style and budget.
Flying with a bike adds complexity, but we’ve done it many times. Whether you’re traveling with a packed bike box, renting a bike at your destination, or shipping it ahead, we’ll walk you through the best approach for your airline and route. We’ll also share up-to-date TSA policies and gear-packing strategies to avoid surprises. Renting a pickup truck or renting a more “overloading” vehicle like a built-out sprinter van can be great strategies.
Some destinations work best with a shuttle setup, especially for point-to-point rides or days with long descents and minimal climbing. Whether you need transport from the airport to your hotel, from one trail system to another, or a custom shuttle to support your route, we’ll coordinate with local vendors to get you where you need to go.
Most biking-specific fees are minimal - things like parking permits or day-use fees. The bigger costs tend to be gear (which Wandersaurus does not provide), bike rentals or shipping, alongside standard travel expenses like flights, hotels, and rental cars. We do not book flights, but will handle the lodging and rental cars. Additionally, our specialized trip planning charge covers our effort planning the time on two wheels. Whether for a series of single-day rides or bikepacking routes, our fee is $100 for the first day of riding and $50 for each additional day.
These trips work well for groups, from families and friends to college clubs or Scout crews. Group logistics (gear, pacing, route selection) need extra planning, but we’ve done it before and can help tailor the experience to your crew’s level and interests. Reach out and let’s talk.
